Jason Lewis

Jason Lewis was born on June 25, 1971 in
Newport Beach, California, USA.

pic0171

A top fashion model turned actor, Jason Lewis is from Southern California. As a teenager, he was determined to get out and see the world. He had to work hard in order to do so, working for a plumbing contractor, and 55 hours a week as a waiter in a restaurant.

In June of 1993, when finally he had enough money collected, he went to Paris at the suggestion of a model scout who thought he would do great in the modeling industry. Jason did a little modeling and was soon on his way to Milan, where he was adored by the fashion industry there.

pic0544

Towards the end of 1993, he landed a GUESS? campaign and his career boosted increasingly. He began landing campaigns with Tommy Hilfiger, Boss (photographed by Richard Avedon), Byblos, and Ray Ban. He also continued working many major fashion shows in Milan, New York, and Paris. In 1996, Jason was nominated for Male Model of the Year at the VH1 Fashion Music Awards. Besides all the runway shows, he has been featured alone in an 11-page editorial in the February 1996 issue of GQ. He was also one of the stars of NBC TV’s “High Sierra Search and Rescue” (1995), a visually stunning seven part series about mountain rescue set in the High Sierras.

Following this early success, he has studied with three private acting coaches for what he hopes will be a future in film. He had done a guest stint on “Beverly Hills, 90210” (1990), and was a recent addition to the cast of “Sex and the City” (1998).

pic0638

Once living in New York as a high profile model, Jason followed an incredible modeling schedule. However, his interest in acting limits his modeling assignments to just fashion editorials and ad campaigns (no longer runways). His loyal fans still remember him in the pages of GQ and Esquire in 2002, and the winter 2002 Gap campaign. He is signed to Wilhelmina Models, Inc. Some of his best friends are also major male models, such as Alex Lundqvist (who was also Jason’s roommate), and Mark Vanderloo.

Brazilian footballer – Kaka

Ricardo Izecson dos Santos Leite, born April 22, 1982 in Brasília, Brazil, simply known as Kaká, is a Brazilian footballer who plays as a midfielder for Brazil and the Serie A club A.C. Milan. He is one of the budding young stars in world football.

ba

The nickname Kaká, from his native Portuguese, is pronounced as it is spelt. The accent would signify that the stress is on the second syllable. In Italian, the language of his current team, the phonetic equivalent is written as Kakà, which is used for Italian television graphics. However, the player’s shirt name is spelt KAKA’ (with an apostrophe, rather than an accented ‘A’) for both Brazil and Milan.

An internet discussion forum explains the nickname as a commonly used shortened form of “Ricardo” in Portuguese. Kaká is supposed to have got his nickname because his little brother Rodrigo could not pronounce the word “Ricardo” when they were young. Rodrigo called his older brother “Caca” which the latter later changed to “Kaká”.

baa

Kaká made his international debut in January 2002 against Bolivia. He was a part of the national squad at the 2002 World Cup, but did not see much action even as Brazil won the World Championship, playing just 19 minutes of a first round match against Costa Rica. Later, he was in action at the 2004 Copa América and the 2005 Confederations Cup, which were both won by Brazil, with Kakà scoring in the Confederation Cup final win over Argentina. (During the postmatch celebration, he and several of his teammates sported T-shirts with “Jesus Loves You” written in different languages.) He finished in joint tenth place in the voting for the 2004 FIFA World Player of the Year award. In the 2005 competition he finished two places higher. More recently, he has helped Brazil qualify for the 2006 World Cup. Kaká has matured as a player and is currently considered one of the best Brazilian footballers.

Kaká made his debut at São Paulo FC in 2001 when he was only 19 years old. That season he scored 12 goals in 27 appearances, and a further 10 goals in 22 appearances the following season, soon attracting attention from European clubs, and it was Milan who won the race to sign him.

baaa

He joined Milan in 2003 for an €8.5m fee. His first appearance came in a match at Ancona, which Milan won 2-0. In all, he scored 10 goals in 30 appearances that season, winning the Italian Serie A Championship and the European Super Cup.

Kaká was an integral part of the team in the 2004-05 season, usually playing in a withdrawn role behind team-mate and good friend, striker Andriy Shevchenko, in a five-man midfield. He scored 7 goals in 36 league appearances, and also won the Italian Super Cup with the club. Milan finished second to Juventus in the Serie A, and lost the UEFA Champions League final to Liverpool on penalty kicks. He was, however, voted the best midfielder in the European tournament. He also ended up ninth position on the 2005 Golden Ball standing, earning 19 votes.

One of his more famous goals was the one against Fenerbahçe SK, during AC Milan’s first game in the 2005-06 Champions League, won 3-1 by the Rossoneri, and which had pundits drawing instant comparisons with Diego Maradona. Kakà started his run from midfield and skipped past three tackles before entering the area and finishing with a low shot under Fenerbahçe goalkeeper Volkan Demirel. He wears the number 22 shirt for the club.

Julien Hedquist

Julien Hedquist, born February 24, 1978 in Miami, Florida and raised in Boston, is one of the most prominent models in the male modeling industry today.

pic0170

His name reflects his French-Swedish heritage. He possesses elegant brown-eyed looks that have sparked comparisons with screen heart-throb Keanu Reeves. He’s hit the catwalk for nearly every top designer, and has made hearts flutter in campaigns for Christian Dior and Hugo Boss fragrances, as well as global fashion firm Gap.

Julien’s sleek muscular build as opposed to the huge rugged gym muscles is the natural physical characteristic for an ideal male athlete that the designers are looking for in representing their products. The advertising campaigns for the new Hugo Boss fragrance Boss in Motion, the new Christian Dior fragrance Higher, and the 2002 winder Gap print ads, which all features Julien Hedquist well prove his rising popularity in the fashion industry. As a proud presentation of IMG models, and one of the commercial blockbusters along with Tyson Ballou, Julien even raises his agency’s rank to No. 1 in the male modeling business.

pic0347

Growing up with two of his brothers, Julien is very active and athletic since a young age. After high school, he was recommended by a local modeling scout to try out for modeling. His early assignments are mainly located in Europe. His boy-next-door look won the likes of many designers, and is frequently seen on the runway shows from Milan, Paris to New York.

Aside from the usual ramp modeling exposure, Julien’s success was expanding many ways. His frequent appearance on various editorials and countless times on Cable Television set him up for some of the major gigs. The article about him and Micaiah in the New York Times for a feature on the latest fashion from top designers in America further demonstrates his expanding popularity to the public.

The year of 2002 has become the turning point of Julien’s modeling career. After representing Boss Sport in 2001, Julien is once again selected as the sole project featured in Boss in Motion fragrance by Hugo Boss. The Boss in Motion man image of being radiant, confident and healthy, and the reflection of a lifetime passion and commitment to an active lifestyle are perfectly portrayed by Julien Hedquist. The other headline that Julien is making is becoming the the new face for Christian Dior fragrance Higher, in which he has to take off his shirt to throw thousands of Dior fans off feet.

pic0543

Julien Hedquist’s success is the product of personal dedication and his determination of sticking to his originality. Not being influenced by the various demands in the industry, Julien believes in what is the best for him, which has won him the respect from his peers and major fashion houses. The list of campaigns under Julien’s belt, including Hugo Boss, Armani Exchange, Gap, Gazzarini, Hazzys, Gucci, Moschino, Nicole Farhi and Exte, prove the high demand for this sexy cat, and he is in no trend of slowing down.

Football Athlete – Jeremy Bloom

Jeremy Bloom was born 2 April 1982, in Fort Collins Colorado USA. An Olympic skier at age 19, he started skiing when he was three. He was a competitive alpine racer before turning to moguls. He made it to the 2002 Olympics. Leading up to the Olympics, he was garnering attention for his toned and extremely physically fit body. He consistently ranked in the top ten of “most sought after for information” on Olympic athletes

as

At university he plays a lot of football! This multi-talented athlete postponed attending school on a football scholarship in order to follow his dream of participating in the Olympics.

It was an urge that Bloom first experienced at age three, when he learned to ski at the Keystone Colorado Resort. His mom, Char, an instructor there, taught Jeremy the basics, but his grandfather Jerry Bloom provided the incentive by tossing candy bars down the mountain during family ski weekends. For young Jeremy, who grew up in a health-food-only household, the prospect of a Hershey bar was enough to overcome his fears on Keystone’s steepest trails. Soon Char and Jeremy’s father, Larry, were looking back on black-diamond mogul runs to see their youngest son bumping along after them. “People would stop and stare,” says Char. “They’d ask, ‘Why aren’t you entering him in competitions?'”

Char assented when Jeremy was five. His first competition was the Small World Cup, a local Alpine event. On his first run Jeremy tucked in and shot straight down the hill. “See those flags?” Char asked her son afterward. “This time, go around them.” He nodded, heard the beep and ignored the flags again. Char threw up her hands in amused acquiescence: Her son, it seemed, was destined for straight-line skiing. He accomplished that goal; in fact, Bloom won the overall World Cup moguls’ title in his first full season on the circuit.

Bloom’s motto reflects his unrelenting drive to be the best in his athletic endeavors: “Compete like you are number one, train like you are number two.”

Question: Is your sport really as dangerous as it looks to novices? Is that part of the appeal?

ass

JEREMY BLOOM: In skiing, spectators love big falls. Obviously we don’t like to be the one taking the fall, but it makes very good competition.

Question: Compare the emotions of winning a state high school football championship with those of winning a World Cup medal?

JEREMY BLOOM: Actually, the way our high school won the state championship is kind of like a fairy tale. We won in the last play of the game. Growing up with all your friends playing football through elementary school and middle school, talking about we’re going to win the state championship some day and then actually doing it in our home stadium in the last second of play. Placing third over there (Tignes) was a huge difference. It’s a totally different feeling in skiing because its very individual; in football when you win something like that you have 100 other people that just want through the exact same thing to celebrate with. In skiing, everyone is happy for you but you’re obviously the most happy for yourself. Over in Tignes, I had a lot of pressure on myself because if I didn’t get a top 12 over there I had to go back to watching events I’ve been competing in for six years and I’m not a huge fan of, so it was just really important for me to do well over there and I’m just fortunate enough to come back here to Steamboat and continue skiing.

Question: How did you get started in skiing? And where did it fit in with your other sports?

JEREMY BLOOM:I lived in Loveland, Colo., which is two hours from a ski resort and I was the youngest in my family and I was pretty much brought up skiing on snow when I could walk. In my family it was just like a tradition every weekend, we had a place in Dillon and we’d just go up and have fun and ski all year. My brother and sister did gates and my first gates competition I was five years old, I think. I didn’t get the concept of going around the gates so I just went straight and I was disqualified. I think ever since then I was in freestyle.

asss

Question: What should spectators look for in moguls?

JEREMY BLOOM: Look for the air, it’s the best thing about our sport in freestyle and for those who don’t know what it is, it’s a bunch of moguls on a 250m course with 2 airs and it’s judged 50% turns, 25% on air and 25% on speed.

Jon Passavant

Jon Passavant is the Renaissance man nowadays in the fashion industry; his classic good looks with a touch of modern cowboy are the most popular subjects of countless designers and fashion houses. Thanks to the worldwide distributed campaigns ads, such as Giorgio Armani, Andrew Marc, Intuition by Estée Lauder and the Spring 2002 GUESS spring campaign Maui Hawaii, Jon is one of the a few American models that stood out in the new millennium, and becoming one of the most familiar faces to the public.

pic0160

Jon has always offered the best of him through every ad campaign, catalog, editorial and runway show that he was engaged in, however the recognition for his achievement didn’t come easy. Previously being regarded as one of the most under-rated model at the moment, it took Jon two years to finally break into the main stream modeling business. If you could open your eyes, you would see that Jon’s glamour is contagious and versatile, from a gentle man in Giorgio Armani to a bad boy in Andrew Marc, or a romancer in GUESS, he is red hot.

As a self-described skinny kid with braces and glasses in his younger years, Jon started to develop into a real man after all the butt kicking on the football field since high school. This perhaps explains his aspiration to be in the military as an alternative to modeling. Jon’s modeling career started in 1999 while he was still in college. After being a part-time model and part-time student for two years, Jon finally graduated from college with a degree in business communications, and was ready to take on all the challenges in the world of fashion.

This Pittsburgh native says that he owes his success to his parents. After all it was his proud mom who persuaded him to get into modeling. She says, “As long as the doors were open he wanted to walk through it, then we were in support of it.”

pic0161

Now being the face of Estee Lauder’s new fragrance, Intuition for men, Jon is constantly on the promotion tour around the world, and gets celebrity treatment wherever he goes. Jon admits, “Women love it.” Just check out the ladies in waiting as Jon spent the day at Bloomingdale’s in New York taking pictures and signing autographs. Not surprisingly, Cosmo has named him one of the world’s top five male models.

Joel Fumero

Joel Fumero has been a model for eight years now, ever since his famous older brother David (star of One Life to Live) got him started at the age of 18.

pic0159

Now, this latin Libra has worked with the best in the industry, including campaigns and shows for Armani, Versace, Paul Smith, Versace Jeans, Oscar de la Renta and Versace Sport among many other labels. He can be seen currently on television starring in a Dr. Pepper commercial.

Like his brother, Joel has traveled a long way to grace the catwalks of Europe, born, as he was, the son of a political prisoner in Cuba. His family made the first part of that journey for him when he was six, leaving Cuba to settle eventually in Miami, FL, and his brother opened that all-important first door for him, but his softly brooding intensity, buff physique and easy-going manner have catapulted him the rest of the way.

professional male tennis player – Joachim Johansson

Joachim Johansson born on July 1, 1982, is a professional male tennis player from Sweden.

9

Johansson was born in Lund and currently lives in Monte-Carlo, Monaco. He won his first ATP singles title in 2004 when he overcame Nicolas Kiefer in the Memphis final. In 2005 he won another two titles (Adelaide and Marseille).

He caused a huge upset at the 2004 US Open when he beat defending champion Andy Roddick in five sets in the quarterfinals. An unusual aspect of the match was that Roddick won 24 points more than Johansson but was defeated nonetheless. Johansson subsequently lost his semifinal against Lleyton Hewitt.

99

Unsurprisingly for a player who is 198 cm (6’6″) tall, Johansson’s most effective stroke is his serve while his greatest weakness is his footwork.

For a while he held the (unequaled) record for most aces served in one match as he aced Andre Agassi 51 times in the 4th round of the 2005 Australian Open (though he still lost the match in four sets). In the post-match press conference, Johansson said he felt he could have served better. The record was equaled at Wimbledon 2005 by Ivo Karlovic, who also lost that match.

Johansson’s father, Leif Johansson, was also a tennis player and represented Sweden in the Davis Cup in the 1970s.

Joachim Johansson is not related to former Australian Open champion and fellow Swede Thomas Johansson.

Spain football player – Jose Antonio Reyes

José Antonio Reyes, born September 1, 1983 in Utrera, Spain is a Spaniard football player for Arsenal FC (England, Premiership.)

8

Highly creative, Reyes has great vision on the field. At 20 years of age, his ball handling skills and knowledge of the game are astounding.

Reyes has stated that the one club he would never play for is Betis Sevilla, cross-town rivals of his former club Sevilla FC. Reyes signed with Sevilla FC at the age of 15 having rocketed through the youth ranks. At 16 he made his first appearance coming off the bench at La Romerada in Zaragoza. Twenty-one goals over four seasons and the other clubs were taking notice. Sevilla FC coach Joaquin Caparros was eager to hang onto his prodigal son, but an Arsenal offer worth up to $36 million US based on appearances and performance was too much for Sevilla to turn down.

88

Reyes has had a tough time adjusting to the English style of play. With two league goals in 13 Arsenal appearances and 7 starts, Wenger has maintained that the youngster will continue to see ample playing time.

Following his 2000/2001 season with Sevilla, Reyes made several appearances with the Under 19 and Under 21 Spanish squads. His first appearance for Spain’s national side came against Portugal in 2003 with his first international start three days later against the Ukraine. Reyes has two goals for his country, both against Armenia in Spain’s final match of the 2004 Eurocup qualification stage. He also appeared in their 2-1 playoff in Spain against Norway last November.

888

With only 23 players to choose, Iñaki Sáez has been forced to pick between an overwhelming number of talented strikers. Perhaps Sáez thinks that Reyes is too young, maybe a little too much of an ‘individual’ at times. His showing with Arsenal since Janaury hasn’t exactly been a glaring success. Whatever the reason, Reyes will without a doubt be taking center stage for Spain in the near future.
