British boxer – Nathan Cleverly

Nathan Cleverly, born February 17, 1987, in Phillipstown, New Tredegar, UK, is a British boxer.

Cleverly has a strong competitive nature which was evident in his primary school days which continued onto secondary at Blackwood Comprehensive. Sport came first, especially football then cross country running. He also maintained his desire to do well academically, which he is happy he stuck with.

But being competitive brought its own problems and Cleverly found he needed to prove himself all the time, and so, he unwittingly started getting involved in fighting after school on street corners. Eventually realising that this was going to get him nowhere, he I decided to “put my money where my mouth is” and after talking things through with his parents he decided to go and join the nearest boxing gym.

Although Cleverly still maintained his interest in football and cross country running, even becoming under 15 Welsh Champion, boxing took its hold, firstly in the amateur rankings, where he started at 39kg going onto 69kg. He won 6 consecutive titles in a row in a 6 year period, and then went on to win bronze, silver and gold at 4 nation championships (competing against the best of England, Scotland and Republic of Ireland).

Cleverly’s amateur record consists of 36 fights, winning 32 of the 36, undefeated in his own country, and only losing to an Italian, 2 English, and a Norwegian boxer.

Then Cleverly decided to push himself a little bit harder, and made the decision to turn to professional boxing after his 18th birthday. His “Pro” career has gone from strength to strength, of his eleven fights, he’s had eleven wins, with 3 knockouts. He has been classed as the fastest rising ranking boxer in his weight division, and he was also nominated for Young Boxer of the Year Award in 2007.

Lars Burmeister, born April 26, 1981, in Hamburg, Germany, is a German international model who is best known for his 2005 ad campaigns for Hugo Boss.

Prior to modeling, Burmeister worked part-time as a mechanic. He never had given modeling a thought, but his sister was convinced otherwise. She took several photos and sent them to a modeling agency in Hamburg, Mega Models. The agency showed a lot of interest and arranged him to travel to Milan.

Nick Youngquest, born July 28, 1983 in Sydney, New South Wales, is an Australian professional rugby league footballer for the Bulldogs in the National Rugby League (NRL) competition. His position of choice is at wing.

Youngquest made his professional football debut at the age of 20, playing for Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks. In 2004–2005, he switched team and signed with St George Illawarra Dragons and in 2006–2007 with Penrith Panthers.

In late 2007, Youngquest agreed to a one-year deal with the Wests Tigers, his fourth club in six years.

Lance Lamar, born and raised in west of Philadelphia in rural Pennsylvania, is an American fitness model and airline pilot.

From the early age of four, Lamar’s fascination with airplanes fueled a passion for flying. Right out of high school, he entered a civilian flight academy to start commercial training for an airline career.

Not long after that, a friend convinced him to send pictures to a modeling agency. He was skeptical at first and knew nothing about the modeling industry, but figured it might be a great way to help pay off his student loans.

One day at a photo shoot, the art director ask Lamar to be shirtless for one of the shots they were going to take. Since he had always been a very scrawny guy, he did not like the idea of showing off his skinny body! Embarrassing as it was, I complied with their request. But he vowed to himself that, from that day forward, he was going to get his body in shape!

So that’s how it started! Lamar had to work very hard, but he was dedicated and really enjoyed seeing his body change. He wasn’t shy at the gym when it came to asking questions and learning exercises and techniques. As his modeling career gathered steam, he was soon doing more “body” work than commercial work.

After a few years of flying corporate aircraft, Lamar finally got hired by a major U.S. airline. He was very excited. However, the intense training and schedule started to take a toll on his fitness regime. With all the traveling that was involved, he had to approach his fitness lifestyle with tons of planning ahead, and crazy dedication! He now carries food and protein shakes with him on trips and sometimes have to get up to do his cardio at 4:00 am.

After several years with the airline, Lamar’s request to transfer to Miami was granted. He moved in with his best friend and lifting partner. Not long after that, they decided to open their own Personal Training Facility in Miami Beach. This business venture has added to his passion for fitness, and he now spends as much time working in the gym as he does flying.

Of course, the modeling still gets squeezed into the schedule a couple times a month. Almost all the shoots are fitness or physique oriented, which he loves doing, since the end result is provoking an appreciation for all the hard work that it takes to be in shape.

His goal in fitness and with modeling, is to show how beautiful fitness can be. To be an inspiration to people towards beautifying their own lifestyle through fitness.

American middle-distance track athlete – Nick Symmonds

Nick Symmonds, born December 30, 1983 in Boise, Idaho, is an American middle-distance track athlete, specializing in the 800m and 1,500m distances.

Raised in Boise, Symmonds is a 2002 graduate of Bishop Kelly High School in that city. In high school, he won state championships in the 800m, 1600m, and 3200m individual races and on the 4X400m relay.

At Willamette, a NCAA Division III school, Symmonds would earn a degree in biochemistry in 2006 and be a member of the Sigma Chi fraternity. On the track outdoors, he won the 800 NCAA championship race all four years and the 1,500 NCAA championship race as a freshman, junior, and senior. His collegiate best in the 800 (1:45.83) currently ranks No. 1 in NCAA Division III history.

After college, Symmonds joined the Oregon Track Club Elite. A seven time outdoor track champion at the NCAA III level, he was runner-up at the AT&T USA Outdoor Championships in 2006 in the 800m race.

In 2008 he won the United States Olympic Trials 800m Final held in Eugene, Oregon with a personal best time of 1:44.10.This qualified him for the U.S. Olympic Team for the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, China, for the 800m race. At the Beijing Olympics, Symmonds finished fifth in his semifinal heat with a time of 1:46.96, 0.73 seconds behind the winner of that heat.

Matthew Lloyd plays for Essendon Bombers Football Club. He plays full forward. He was recruited at the end of 1994 in a deal that saw three or four of players go to Fremantle just so they could have him. He came into the league as one of the most able full forwards to come out of under 18’s.

He made his debut in 1995, showing Australia that he was a class player. His career hit a low when a knee injury kept him out for a big part of 1996 but he made a big comeback and was Essendon’s leading goalkicker in 1997.

In 1998 saw him playing well and also kicking a lot of goals. In 1999 he was on the top for most of the season, only to drop to fourth when an ankle injury kept him out for 2 weeks. He is currently Essendon’s leading goalkicker.

His left-foot kicks are deadly accurate, he is smart at ground level and courageous to boot. Only turns 22 this season, so has had a big impact on the game in a short time. Kholafai has been in the industry for almost 2 years. He was first discovered while walking in South Beach, Miami on the road. He was walking one day on the beach and decided to walk on the road on the way back to make it shorter. Then a black Yukon pulled up to him and asked him about modeling and that’s when he decided to give modeling a try.

Standing 6″1′ feet tall and 165 lbs., Kholafai quickly began to book jobs working with a lot of great photographers. He has been featured in numerous editorials magazines, such as Genre and Vogue. He has also done high profile campaigns for Calvin Klein and International Jocking; and runway shows as well as a commercial.

Lionel Clerc, born in 1982, in Lausanne – the French part of Switzerland, is a Swiss model.

Clerc originally worked as a financial analyst and got a master in 2005. Feeling too young to start a business life so early, he left his job and decided to pursue a career in modeling.

Clerc explained, “I was working and studying a lot and I never had much time to travel. So I decided to have a break to start something different with a lot of travels. It wasn’t a dream for me to be a model but the opportunity came to me.”

He added, “Of course, I have no regrets today, my life is different every day with new experiences, I discover a new country almost every 2 months, different cultures, I meet so many people and build many connections for my future.”

Clerc’s modeling career started to prosper in 2006 and he didn’t hesitate to take advantage of the opportunity to travel. He modeled different countries, most of them in Europe.
