Australian TV presenter and Model – Marc Savoia

Marc Savoia, born in 1976 in Melbourne, is an Australian TV presenter, model and visual artist.

6-foot-tall Savoia began his career in 1998, modelling in Australia and internationally, building an impressive portfolio of work in catalogues, editorial, runway and television commercials.

Having trained in the areas of dance, singing and acting, Savoia underwent a series of gruelling auditions for the lead role of Tony Manero in the Australian production of Saturday Night Fever. He landed the coveted part after being flown to the UK to audition for renowned music impresario and producer Robert Stigwood at London’s Palladium Theatre. After nationwide publicity, the production did not make it to opening night due to financial difficulties.

In 2001, Savoia turned his near-miss on the big stage to a sure thing on the small screen, landing a role as roving reporter for Fox 8’s The Cover. Showcasing the latest in style, innovations, ideas and culture, Marc looked after Melbourne stories and events. Subsequently, he was asked to MC the launch of Melbourne Fashion Week 2001, was profiled in Australian Cleo’s Top 50 Bachelors of the Year, and would later host The Simpsons Summer Fest on Fox8.

Savoia also appeared in the acclaimed Australian short film Titsiana Booberini, directed by Robert Luketic who went on to acclaim in the US directing Legally Blonde.

In 2002, Savoia moved into a role as a travel presenter and host for a racy lifestyle program called About (Fox8), airing both in Australia and Canada. He reported from Los Angeles, New York, London, Paris and Rome, interviewing a host of colourful celebrities including Camryn Manheim from The Practice, Aussie music guru Molly Meldrum and notorious NY socialite Miss Amanda Lapore.

In 2004-05, Savoia added a new chapter to his travel reporting, becoming host/presenter for two Fox 8 shows. While taking on a new series of About, now evolving into a youth culture series with a focus on Australians kicking butt overseas, Marc also presented on Out & About, a snapshot of alternative culture and lifestyle in Australia and abroad. The series was snapped up by MTV Viacom in the US and renamed Round Trip Ticket. Marc was sent on assignment to Athens, Mykonos, Berlin, Amsterdam and Hong Kong.

Apart from the excitement of shooting in some of the world’s greatest locations, Savoia has been fortunate to meet people with amazing life stories. His style is to go in cold in interviews and allow his natural curiosity to unravel the subject and learn what makes them tick.

Savoia’s personal highlights from the first series of Round Trip Ticket/Out & About include reporting from the Closing Ceremony of the 2004 Olympic Games, interviewing Nobel Peace Prize nominee Zackie Achmat and meeting the charismatic Mayor of Berlin, Klause Wowereit. The second series, with stories from Bangkok, Tokyo, Dublin, Rotterdam, Manchester, Portland (Oregon) and Montreal, includes an interview with controversial and outspoken Irish Bishop Pat Buckley, and a visit to Cirque du Soleil headquarters in Montreal.

When not in front of the camera, Savoia indulges his passion for art. His work challenges norms with an irreverent use of medium and a rambunctious use of colour. He currently produces abstract paintings with materials such as resin, broken glass, cigarette butts and spaghetti. Marc, the artist, is building a strong reputation on the Australian scene after his first solo exhibition in 2006 with Thierry B Gallery, Prahran East.

Malvino Salvador, January 31, 1976, is an actor and model, best known for his role as Regins in the TV series “Sete Pecados”.

Salvador is perhaps known for acting mostly in telenovelas in his home country, Brazil. Prior to acting, he completed his degree in Computer Science. His first profession jobs was an assistant for theater director for Wolf Maia’s “Blue Jeans.”

In 2004, Salvador branched out into a professional acting career, first auditioning in the popular soap opera, “Cabocla”, and soon after appeared in three more soap operas, including “O Profeta” (2006) as Camilo , “Alma Gêmea” (2007) as Vitório and “Sete Pecados” (2007) as Régis Ninja.

Micky Friedmann

Micky Friedmann, born in Israel, is a German ballet dancer and model.

Friedmann was born in Israel of German Jews who fled their homeland during World War II. His Father told him to never feel like an outsider in Germany as his family had helped build the country. Determined Micky returned to Germany and very much the quintessential Berliner.

Now based in Berlin, Friedman is a soloist dancer with the Berlin Ballet Komische Opera. He also models part time and contracted by agency “VIVA.”

His work includes fashion and commercial print, and can be seen sulking in the pages of numerous magazines, most notably, the front covers of Blue, Sergej, Spartacus and Nujn.

Marcus Schenkenberg was born in August 4, 1968 in Sweden and raised in Stockholm, Sweden, he became the first male supermodel in the world. He has an apartment in New York City, and earns over 1 million dollars a year. He did a large Calvin Klein jeans ad campaign, published this first book, “New Rules”.

As the world’s first male supermodel Marcus Schenkenberg says his bare butt is his greatest asset. As a lanky, dark-haired boy growing up in Stockholm, Marcus had visions of being either an NBA star or a fighter pilot. School, however, held little interest for him, and in 1987, he opted to travel America with a friend.

Two years later, he was discovered by a photographer, rollerblading on California’s Venice Beach. Schenkenberg (who had been earning money as a dogwalker and a nanny for two young children) agreed to have his pictures taken, and within months, he was his way to the runways of Paris. The catwalks, Schenkenberg says, prepared him for the superstardom that hit soon after, when Bruce Weber shot him showering naked for a Calvin Klein jeans ad.

By 1991, he was modeling the spring and fall collections for the likes of Gianni Versace, Donna Karan, Ungaro and, of course, Calvin Klein. His first magazine cover for Bazaar, and was also that year. He has since appeared in hundreds of haute-couture shows and in magazines ranging from Vogue Italia to Elle. He appeared on MTV and was basically molested by VJ Kennedy for America’s entertainment.

Michael Bergin was born in Waterbury, Connecticut, and grew up in the small town of Naugatuck, Connecticut. He attended the University of Connecticut. To support himself during his college years he worked as a waiter and at odd jobs for minimum wage. During his sophomore year, a friend told him that he should seriously consider modeling. She said that he could earn up to $1000 a day modeling in New York. Struggling financially, he finally considered the career move. He signed on with the Clark Modeling Agency. He realized that the money earned would greatly ease his financial burden.

Bergin kept himself in exceptional shape. He was very muscular, and actually had to lose some of the bulk in order to fit into the designer clothing. After his junior year, the modeling assignments kept growing making the commute to New York more frequent. Bergin spent his summer working full time. In the Fall, he returned to the University of Connecticut to finish his senior year. Bergin graduated with a degree in business marketing. He moved to New York Permanently.

Work was now abundant as he walked the runways of New York, Paris and Milan for such designers as Sonia Rykiel, Valentino, Calvin Klein, Gianfranco Ferre, Giorgio Armani, Yves Saint-Laurent and Donna Karan.

His credits for TV commercials and printed advertisements include Kellogg’s, Bacardi Rum, L’ Oreal, Maybelline, Coty, Perry Ellis, and Liz Claiborne. He moved back to New York a month later.

Bergin soon replaced Marky Mark as the new Calvin Klein underwear model. Michael also appeared in solo ads and with Kate Moss in underwear, jeans and suit layouts. His ads for Calvin Klein left him without assignments for more than six months. No agency was interested in a model that had modeled for Calvin Klein. So he made a decision to move toward acting. It proved to be a good choice, as his work for TV as a correspondent includes ‘E! Entertainment Television,’ ‘VH1,’ and ‘Entertainment Tonight.’ His acting credits included a recurring role on the soap ‘Central Park West’ and ‘The Proprietor’ (a Merchant Ivory film).

He was soon sent out to read for a part on ‘Baywatch.’ The move toward acting paid off here, as he landed the role of Jack ‘J.D.’ Darius. J.D. is a character that returned to ‘Baywatch’ after a leave of absence for the lieutenant position vacated by Captain Mitch Buchannon (David Hasselhoff). A failed pier rescue resulted in the victim getting crushed, causing him to bleed internally. The victim died in J.D.’s arms. He blamed himself for the death, suffering ‘Post Traumatic Stress Disorder’ and needing time off to deal with it.

He was no stranger to the team, as he knew Mitch (David Hasselhoff) since he was 18 years old as a Rookie. He had followed in Mitch’s footsteps as a Lifeguard. And knows Cody (David Chokachi) and Newman (Michael Newman) from various Lifeguard competitions. He has now moved into the apartment that was once shared by C.J. (Pamela Lee), Caroline (Yasmine Bleeth) and Cody.

J.D. was in competition for the vacant position with Taylor Walsh (Angelica Bridges), in which Mitch considered Taylor as the better candidate because of J.D.’s recurring problems to deal with the pier incident. Taylor in turn hires him at ‘Baywatch’ to keep him there, as she felt that he was an excellent Lifeguard.

Marc “Sparky” Bartolomeo is an electrician by trade and has been in the field for a little over 15 years.

He was born in Brooklyn, New York. He has three siblings, one brother and two sisters. He grew up working on cars in his father’s garage in Coney Island, New York. He had a strong fascination for tools and how mechanical things worked. He was always surrounded by tools in his dad’s garage. He is a “hands-on” type of person and truly loves being a blue-collar worker.

He went to a vocational/technical high school and when he graduated he began working. When his family moved to Las Vegas he moved with them. Two years after they moved Marc returned to New York to attend St. John’s University as a business/psychology major. A former girlfriend in 1994 went behind his back and entered him into a guy’s underwear contest. He did not win but he met his future agents who got him started on his side career as a model.

Marc modeled for about six years before he “retired” and started to do electrician work full time again. About four years later he was pulled back into the show biz world by NorthSouth Productions to do TLC’s “In a Fix” (2004).

Some of his favorite hobbies are DJing, cooking/baking, racquetball, traveling, spending oodles of time at garage and yard sales, and collecting antiques.

Janic is the host of the new series ‘Hot Import Nights’ on the Speed Channel. Known as “AJ” in the automotive World, AJ was the spunky and fun Co-host of the hit automobile makeover-show, OVERHAULIN’. Recently cancelled, the popular series is still seen worldwide on Discovery Channel International. Matt Lanter, born April 1, 1983, is an American actor, best known for his role as Horace Calloway in the ABC television drama Commander in Chief.

Born in northeastern Ohio, he moved to Atlanta, Georgia in 1991. He played baseball, football and golf and was a bat boy for the Atlanta Braves.

Lanter first gained Hollywood’s attention when he was selected as a competitor in the 2004 reality television series Manhunt, hosted by former Baywatch star Carmen Electra. Mark Fisher, born in 1978, in Detroit, is an American model best known for his campaigns for Abercrombie & Fitch, Polo, Versace and Ralph Lauren.

Fisher was born in Detroit, but grew up in Atlanda and considers himself a little boy from the South. He was discovered in a shopping mall when an agent named Jean Nicols directly approached him and asked him if he was interested in being a model and traveling to Milan with all expenses paid. Fisher who was a college student and part-time D.J. at the time, decided to take a chance.

Before modeling, Fisher had never been outside North America or on a plane. And his Mom’s best advice when he left the South for the big city was “Eat your vegetables”.

The initiation in Milan was a learning experience for Fisher. He wasn’t able to secure any major modeling works, but he learned about the business for the future reference. Mark returned to America and was signed by New York based agency Boss Models. Soon, photographers and casting agents started taking notice of him, which led to his impressive modeling career.

Fisher got his big break when renowned photographer Bruce Weber shot him in major campaigns including Abercrombie & Fitch, Versace and Ralph Lauren that put him on the map. Soon after, he’s landed campaigns for Polo and Andrew Fezza, to mention a few; and has appeared in several US magazines including Men’s Vogue, GQ and Details.

“When people call me ‘Gorgeous! Beautiful! A babe!’ I say, ‘Thank you, but…you may need thicker glasses.'” That just shows how down-to-earth Mark Fisher really is. What he likes about modeling is getting to wear clothes he could never afford, and the part he hates is standing around outside without a shirt, pretending you’re warm, when it’s freezing!

Miro Moreira, born in 1985 in Sao Paulo, Brazil, is a Brazilian model best known for his photoshoot for Terra’s “The Boy.”

His very first modeling job was working as a runway model at Sao Paulo Fashion Week. In just a few months, he appeared in several magazines including Drops, and Circulates magazines among others.

Standing 6’1″ and 185 pounds, Moreira is , without a doubt, one of the most popular “The Boy” models photographed by Cristiano. Fashion observers, photographers and internet readers all fell in love with him instantly.

Besides his mass exposure with “The Boy,” Moreira is now a major force in editorials and ad campaigns.
