F1 Car Racing Athlete – Jenson Button

Jenson Button, often called Jense, born January 19, 1980, in Frome, Somerset, England, is a British Formula One racing driver from England, best known for competing for the Honda Racing F1 team, winning his first Grand Prix in Hungary 2006.

Button began karting at age eight after his father bought him his first kart, and he made an extraordinarily successful start. He won all 34 races of the 1991 British Cadet Kart Championship along with the title.

Further successes followed, including triumphs in the British Open Kart (1st) Championship, British Formula Ford Championship (1st), Macau Grand Prix (2nd), and Formula One 2004 (3rd), just to name a few.

When not racing, Button’s hobbies include mountain biking, body boarding and collecting cars – his car collection includes a 1956 VW Campervan.

When asked what his secret to a happy life, Button said, “Being surrounded by fantastic people, and I’m very lucky in that way. And being able to laugh at yourself is important too.”
