Singaporean Actor and Comedy – Pierre Png
Pierre Png, born on October 29 in Singapore, is a Singaporean actor and comedy performer best known for playing Phua Chu Beng in Singapore’s television sitcom “Phua Chu Kang Pte Ltd”.
Talent-spotted from the critically acclaimed local movie “Forever Fever”, which has been distributed worldwide, Png is the winner of the Fame Awards 1998, Singapore’s nationwide English talent quest. Singapore’s hearthrob, Pierre was voted one of Cleo magazine’s Most Eligible Bachelors in 1999, and in the same year, he was voted Female magazine’s most Gorgeous Hunk.
A versatile actor, Png demonstrated his comedic side in the award winning sitcom “PCK Pte Ltd”, playing one of the lead roles as a hapless but earnest yuppie architect. And in “Money”, Singapore’s first TV series to be shot on film, Pierre charms the viewers with his lead role as Sonny, where he plays a stockbroker who struggles to strike a balance between work, family & relationships.
Png further established his standing as one of MediaCorp’s most competent actor by taking the lead role in Raintree Pictures’ first English movie, “Chicken Rice War”, where he successfully portrayed his role as a modern Romeo in a local context.
Png made his debut on the Chinese channel (Ch 8) with the epic drama “In Pursuit Of Peace”, where he played the supposed young version of Singapore’s Senior Minister Mr. Lee Kuan Yew. His latest vehicle is that of the lead role, in Nothing To Lose, a Thai movie by acclaimed director Danny Pang, as a compulsive gambler.
His ambition is to start his own business, to have a hand in the theme-parks or to set up my own joint. During his spare time, Png loves to go bowling, scuba diving and kite flying.
