South African rugby player – Francois Steyn

François Steyn, born 14 May 1987, in Aliwal North, is a South African rugby union player, who plays for his national team; the Natal Sharks in the country’s domestic competition, the Currie Cup; and the Sharks in the Southern Hemisphere Super 14 competition.

Steyn is widely seen as one of the biggest talents to have emerged recently in the game of rugby. He has an eye for the posts and a great kicking game, occasionally replacing Percy Montgomery for longer penalty kicks.

After playing only ten matches for the Sharks in the 2006 Currie Cup (at fly-half), Steyn was, at 19 years old, selected to represent South Africa in the Northern Hemisphere. He has shown to possess superb goal kicking qualities as well.

In his debut season of Super 14 rugby, Steyn was selected on the right wing, however, was moved to fullback when a teammate was injured. He kicked two drop goals in the 2007 Tri-Nations opener against Australia at Newlands Stadium in Cape Town, to win the game for the Springboks. One of these, a 42 metre effort from a fielded clearance kick next to the sideline, and another three minutes from time next to the posts about 30 m out.

Steyn was also a member of the winning team of the 2007 Rugby World Cup, making him the youngest player to win a World Cup.

Fernando Verdasco, born November 15, 1983 in Madrid, is a spanish tennis player from Spain. He is one of the top Spanish tennis players, ranked No. 13 as of September 2008.

Verdasco started playing tennis at four years of age and got a full-time coach when he was eight.

Verdasco turned professional in 2001, finishing as world number 464. 2002 was a good year for him, as he won his first Futures category title in Spain F1 and was runner-up in Spain F3.

After finishing in 2003 as 109th in the world (with a 15-8 record in challengers), Verdasco had a breakthrough in 2004, when he won his first ATP title in Valencia. He defeated defending champion Juan Carlos Ferrero in the semifinal and Albert Montañés in the final. In 2005 he defeated Andy Roddick twice, in Miami and in Rome. Verdasco is a very aggressive baseliner who is widely considered consistent on all surfaces. Many players including Andy Roddick consider Verdasco to have one of the hardest forehands on tour. His serve is characteristic of a left-handed player predominantly using slice to create a lot of swing. He is known for rivaling compatriot Rafael Nadal with the amount of top spin he can put on a ball.

Fabian Leimlehner, born September 17, 1987, in Liestal, Switzerland, is an Austrian gymnast.

Leimlehner is of mixed race. His mother is Swiss and his father Austrian, he has dual nationality, but chosen to compete under the colours of Austria.

Leimlehner’s trained as a gymnast since birth in Liestal and in 2004, made his debut at the “Seven Facher österreichischer Staatsmeister”. In 2007, he won Silver medal at the “World Cup and European Championship” in Ostrava.

Derrick Davenport, born and raised in South Carolina, is an American fitness model.

A good southern boy who was raised by his mother, Derrick took an early interest in fitness and exercise and began training at an early age. In school, Derrick was always very active in sports, and he has a definite competitive edge.

Derrick got his degree from the the University of South Carolina. He quickly landed a coaching position at the prestigious IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida. Derrick was closely associate with the Bolettieri Academy where Venus and Serena Wiliams train.

In the fall of 2004, Derrick met photographers Steve Henry and Tom Watkin. After several shoots with these two photographers, Steve Henry suggested that Derrick should shoot for Playgirl magazine. The editors at Playgirl loved Derrick’s look and he was chosen for the May cover and centerfold of the magazine. Derrick’s Playgirl debut was huge for his career!

In April 2005, Derrick signed with Mega Muscle Productions to produce a series of videos. His first, Derrick Davenport’s Complete Circuit Training is already being hailed as “one of the most visually stunning workout videos ever created.”

Derrick has just completed filming on another video and all his products are available for sale through his online store.

In addition to all the new products featuring Derrick, he signed on to join the team of Mega Muscle Models, one of the hottest model management companies in the country.

American figure skater – Evan Lysacek

Evan Lysacek, born June 4, 1985, in Chicago, Illinois, raised in Naperville, Illinois, is an American figure skater who is the 2007 US National Champion and a two-time World bronze medalist (2005–2006), currently ranked fifth in the world (as of 2007).

Lysacek began skating at the age of eight. His grandmother had always wanted to be in the Ice Capades, so she bought him skates for Christmas. He originally wanted to play hockey so his mother enrolled him and his sister Laura in figure skating lessons so he would learn how to skate. Lysacek became hooked and was soon competing as a figure skater.

In 1996, he won the U.S. national title at the Juvenile level. After failing to qualify for Nationals on the novice level in 1998, Lysacek won the U.S. Novice title in 1999 at the age of thirteen and then immediately followed it with the U.S. Junior title in 2000 at the age of fourteen. He was the first male skater since Terry Kubicka to win back-to-back Novice and Junior Men’s titles in the United States.

In the 2004–2005 season, having aged out of juniors, Lysacek made his senior international debut. Skating through a hip injury, Lysacek placed fifth at the 2004 Skate America, his first Grand Prix event of his career.

At the 2006 U.S. Championships, Lysacek was third after the short program, but pulled up to win the free skate, finishing second overall and winning the silver medal. He was named to compete at the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin, Italy.

In the 2006–2007 season, Lysacek placed second at Skate America. Two weeks later, Lysacek won the gold medal at Cup of China by a 20-point margin.

Off the ice, Lysacek studies acting on his own and has also taken method acting classes at the Professional Arts School in Beverly Hills. He appeared in the independent film Skate Great!, playing a Russian Olympic gold medalist.

Lysacek has used his fame to support in a number of charities. He participated in Target – A Time for Heroes, a celebrity charity event benefiting the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation. He also supports the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute (Jimmy Fund).

Daniel Campos also known as Cloud, born May 6, 1983 in Adel, Georgia but raised in San Diego, California, is a dancer, choreographer, actor, and director who is best known as one of Madonna’s male dancers.

Cloud is a former member of the “Al Fuentes High Voltage Extreme Acrobatic Dance Team” as well as a dancer with the “Skills Methodz” troupe.

Cloud has performed in music videos and concert tours for pop singer Madonna, including Hung Up and Sorry, and was prominently featured in the documentary I’m Going to Tell You a Secret. He worked as one of Madonna’s dancers in her “The Confessions Tour” and also performed at “Live 8” and “Live Earth” with Madonna.

Cloud has also worked with Latin artist Paulina Rubio in the video for the single Nada Puede Cambiarme and has previously appeared in videos by Rhianna and MVP.

Additionally, Cloud is also a director, he co-directed a short film “Heaven Awaits” won the Best Cinematography, Best Audio, Best Editing, Best Horror Film, and Grand Prize at the 2005 Filmerica Challenge.

Epke Jan Zonderland, born April 16, 1986 in Lemmer, Netherlands, is a Dutch gymnast.

Coming from a family of gymnasts brothers (Herre and Johan) and sister (Geeske), Zonderland started exercising gymnastics at the age of four. He reached his first international success as a junior in 2004. At the European Junior Championships in Ljubljana he became fourth at the all-around event and he won a silver medal at the horizontal bar. That same year he also became Dutch national all-around champion by taking over the title from his older brother Herre.

In 2005 at the World Championships in Melbourne, Zonderland became one the first ever Dutch gymnasts in the history of the sport to qualify for the all-around final. He eventually ended up on the 11th position.

After his success in 2005, Zonderland continued in 2006 by reaching the final of the horizontal bar competition during the European Championships in Volos, where he placed 6th. That year he also became Dutch national all-around champion for the second time in his career.

At the 2007 European Championships in Amsterdam, Zonderland reached a unique performance by finishing sixth in the all-around event, the highest ever position by a Dutch gymnast. During the same Championships he also won the bronze medal at the parallel bars.

Later in September 2007, at the World Championships in Stuttgart, Zonderland finished in 4th position at the horizontal bar, which earned him a qualification for the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing where he placed 7th.
