I want one of these too when I turn 67!  Talk about being a bad boy at that age!  Oh well, who am I to judge!  The reality is, I will definitely be like Calvin Klein too when I reach that age.  What I find weird though is that Calvin could really look like Nick if he were Nick’s age!  To date someone who could look like you when you were younger is just a bit creepy for me.  Oh well, I am really envious so I am saying these things.  Nick is hot, hot, hot!

Coco Martin: Star Awards’ Best Actor!

Coco Martin started as one of Star Magic hopefuls at ABS CBN. And looking back it looks like he was not going anywhere what with a lot of formidable stars trying to outdo each just to get jobs and exposures at the ABS CBN stable.
Knowing that the future looked bleak for him, he started accepting indie films (independent films with short budgets) and the was the start. Masahe was just a lighted ember which was fanned by virtue of its quality despite its meager budget. His star shone when Masahe lured him to intertnational stardoom and the film was shown from any known film festivals abroad reaping critical and box office success in the process.
After a years time, his monicker became the “king of indie films”. He was then offered an afternoon melodrama where he was given a meaty role of a town mayor opposite Roxanne Guinoo. His presence was felt and his acting performance was noticed.
Then came the Tayong Dalawa role that catapulted the three male lead stars Coco, Gerald and Jake to stars of promising acting calibers. Gerald and Jake did their part superlatively, but Coco didn’t fliched and acted with much gusto you could almost feel the role, and for every pain he encountered as the “other brother” you were treated a performance than can equate the acting prowess of the great Nora Aunor. His eyes speaks and act … and the recent acting trophy from Star Awards is an evidence of his depth and his acting talent.
This is just the start for Coco Martin, and we know he is going to fill up his living room with mammoth trophies- something that speaks greatness! Move over John Lloyd Cruz, Piolo Pascual and Luis Manzano. This diminutive star will surely give you a run for acting trophies in the next awards derby!

Born and raised in The Bronx, Ari Gold was discovered singing at his brothers bar-mitzva at the tender age of five. After winning first prize along with his two brothers at the First Annual Jewish Children’s song Festival, Ari landed his first job as a professional singer and actor playing the lead role in the CBS Children’s record Pot Belly Bear: Song and Stories.

The album went platinum. This led to a successful career as a child vocalist singing on over 400 jingles, doing various animated voices for Cabbage Patch Kids and the cartoon Jem and back-up singing for the likes of Diana Ross. After graduating from Yeshiva high School in Manhattan, Ari went to study at Yale and received his bachelor of arts degree from New York University. Taking advantage of being in one of the most vibrant music scenes in the world Ari began performing his original music at NYC hotspots such as Joe’s Pub, Fez, China Club, Barracuda, Metronome, Flamingo East, Pyramid, Splash, Bar d’O, Starlight, and CBGB’s. All the while Ari was recording material which would make up the bulk of his debut CD released in 2001. The debut album anticipated pop music’s movement to a more R&B sound and included explicit lyrics of love songs sung to a man by another man – something the genre had practically never seen or heard of before. The album went on to take home the 2002 OUTMUSIC AWARDS FOR OUTSTANDING DEBUT RECORDING and in 2002 Ari was later named one of GENRE MAGAZINE’S MEN WE LOVE.nre Magazine’s “Men We Love”.

The debut album garnered the attention of legendary tunesmith Desmond Child (Ricky Martin, Cher, Aerosmith, Kelly Clarkson, Clay Aiken, etc.) and their first collaboration “I’m All About You,” (Island Universal) debuted in the top 20 on the UK pop charts and became a top 10 dance hit. Co-written and produced with UK garage sensations DJ LUCK AND MC NEAT the song brought together the sounds of R&B, Pop and two-step — an underground genre that was breaking in the UK. The video, shot in Miami, was heavily played and requested on MTV and The Box. In conjunction with the single Ari performed with Luck and Neat on practically every major TV and radio show in the UK including, Live And Kicking (CH. 5), T4 (CH.4), RADIO ONE BIG SUNDAY and the legendary TOP OF THE POPS (BBC).

In January of 2004, Ari released his sophomore album titled SPACE UNDER SUN on his own label Gold18 Records. The album debuted at #1 on the OUTVOICE CHARTS, received critical praise and instantly landed Ari on the cover of countless gay magazines around the world solidifying Ari’s status as an emerging gay icon. THE ADVOCATE raved that, “Gold performs with equal parts of sly, finger-snappin’ sass and earthy R&B finesse,” and remarked on how “Gold has assembled an impressive posse of collaborators…to frame his voice with the crisp yet fleshy sound of a platinum-selling recording” which includes Desmond Child, Major (Lamya, B2K), Kahlil (Res), KENDRA ROSS (Talib Kweli), Peter Amato (LeAnn Rimes), Steve Skinner (Taylor Dayne), and MARSHA MALAMET (Luther Vandross, Jessica Simpson). Metro Source Magazine named Ari “One Of The 25 People That Make Us Proud” along with Ellen Degeneres, Harvey Fierstein, Hugh Jackman and Barbra Streisand. The CD is enhanced with lyrics, a bonus mp3 and the music video of “Wave Of You” which has been playing on Rock America and For Promo Only with videos by Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake, Seal and Madonna in clubs across the country and featured on VH-1’s Totally Gayer and on HBO Zone.

Ari’s unique look and style have gotten him into top fashion magazines such as W, he was named one of the 9 hottest men in NYC by H/X magazine, and was chosen as one of “the Stylistics” for VIBE magazine’s January 2002 issue shot by photographer Walter Chin. After being interviewed and photographed by pop icon BOY GEORGE for AXM magazine, Ari was chosen to be the spokesmodel for Boy George’s clothing line RUDE. Ari Gold’s populaR ONLINE FAN STORE includes a 12 Month Calendar featuring photos taken by many top photographers and a cover designed by acclaimed illustrator JOE PHILLIPS. The calendar has since been featured in Heeb Magazine under: Jewgayica. Other popular items include the “He’s On My Team” hoodie, T-shirts and mugs.
Ari has lent his songwriting and production skills to other artists and projects. In 2003 Grammy award winning producer David Morales remixed “I’ll Be Here” on his label Definity Records which Ari co-wrote with Automagic for Nashom of THE ONES (“Flawless”) solo project. The song went on to become a top 10 Billboard dance hit and was featured in an episode of Queer As Folk. Ari has also written for #1 Billboard dance recording artist KEVIN AVIANCE (“Give It Up”) both for his debut CD as well as for his latest release Entity. Ari keeps company with Diane Warren and Stephen Bray on 80’s teenscream Tommy Page’s last album as well. Ari’s music has been licensed to numerous independent films, including the cult hit Latin Boys Go To Hell, where he served as Music Supervisor and appeared in the film performing his song “See Through Me.”

Ari has been at the forefront of the contemporary gay rights movement donating his music to human rights causes. His song “Home” can be heard on the Human Rights Campaign’s benefit album LOVE ROCKS along with music by Melissa Etheridge, Christina Aguilera, Pink, Dolly Parton, Carole King, Cyndi Lauper, Oleta Adams & Billy Porter. Ari also donated his song “Bashert (Meant To Be)” with artists like RUPAUL and Adam Joseph to the American Civil Liberties Union’s (ACLU) benefit CD MARRY ME in efforts to secure the rights of same sex couples. Ari’s charity package, which can be purchased through his website, donates the proceeds to The Hetrick Martin Institute and The Black AIDS institute. Ari was also featured on the groundbreaking high rated VH1 special, MY COOLEST YEARS IN THE CLOSET.”My Coolest Years: In The Closet.”

I watched him twice tonight!  First in the movie ‘Nobel Son’ which was fun to watch, but you’d have to suspend your disbelief since there are so many twists in it, it’s so easy to get lost.  Anyhow, Bryan Greenberg is one of the major characters in the movie.  He plays the son of the Nobel Prize winner played by Alan Rickman.  Anyway, just rent the movie if you want because he’s so cute in this and so bad-ass.  Don’t remember him having a shirtless scene though.

An hour later, he comes out in HBOs ‘How To Make It In America’, a very interesting series where he’s one of the two blokes trying to make break it into the fashion scene of New York by making jeans.  Since he’s the cute one, the girls gravitate to him – a no-brainer!

Big Brother 2: Bruce Quebral

I don’t really watch Big Brother, whether it’s the Pinoy version or the UK version.  I just check out the hunks that come out from that show when they’re already a bit famous.  I picked up a copy of a magazine featuring the contestants of Pinoy Big Brother 2.  And it has some pictures of Bruce Quebral.  I did see him in person in Akon’s concert a few years ago.  He was ok, wasn’t particularly striking.  However, his pictures here are really nice!  I guess he looks better without the clothes!

His debut single, that extraordinary version of Andrea Bocelli’s “The Prayer”, not only held the No. 1 position in lockdown for five consecutive weeks, it has set the record books reeling: Anthony Callea’s “The Prayer” is officially the fastest selling Australian single of all time, it is also the highest selling Australian single ever!

These are astounding figures for any artist, but especially for one whose career has only just begun. They hint at Anthony’s rare, cross-generational appeal, but they’re not what make him special. To understand that, you have to cast your mind all the way back to the 10th August, 2004, the morning after the then 21 year old singing teacher from Melbourne was voted out of the first round of Australian Idol. It had been a tough blow to a performer who’d been working towards this moment since he was three years old. But that day, like every other day, he got over it and did what he did best. He sang. Because for Anthony Callea, there was nothing else he could do. “Music is my life. It’s my reason for being”, he says. “And anyway”, he laughs, “I’m crap at everything else”.

There was nothing in Anthony’s family history suggestive of his future profession. No one sang, no one played an instrument. So you can imagine his parents’ complete bewilderment when the then three-year old Anthony asked them if they could take him to singing lessons. “It was a bit weird”, recalls Anthony. “But they’ve always been supportive, saying if that’s what you really want to do, then go for it”. And he’s been going for it ever since.

From those early days of talent schools through to 13 years of private singing lessons – which culminated in Anthony topping the state for Music Solo Performance in Victoria’s (HSC equivalent) Certificate of Education (with a perfect score, no less!) – Anthony has been utterly committed to his craft. By age 15, Anthony was already performing at The Odeon theatre in Melbourne’s Crown Casino, where he met up with producer Ashley Cadell, and spent the next few years writing, recording and honing his skills. By age 17, he was earning his living as a professional singer, continuing to perform at the Crown Casino as well as doing corporate gigs and weddings as a member of vocal trio, Say Yeah. In addition, he had a group of 27 private singing students with whom he shared his vocal secrets. Anthony knew he was going somewhere. He just didn’t know where, or when, his big break would come.

Then a small show called Australian Idol came along. Anthony made it through to the Final 30 before being voted off. The elimination was a surprise, and it hurt. But Anthony followed the same advice he gave his students: “Keep at it, don’t let anyone put you down and remember that if you really want something, put your mind to it and just do it”. So when Anthony received the wildcard that saw him re-enter the show, he wasn’t overwhelmed. He wasn’t nervous. He was ready.

History may recall that it was Casey Donovan who became the Australian Idol, but it is Anthony Callea who will be remembered for providing the show’s defining moment: a performance of The Prayer so jaw droppingly accomplished, so emotionally loaded, that it produced a standing ovation from both the judges and the audience. From that moment, Anthony Callea was on his way.

Anthony Callea’s debut album, simply titled ANTHONY CALLEA, is stunning testament to his promise and his undeniable talent. Recorded over two months, ANTHONY CALLEA comprises 12 contemporary pop songs that explore the textured dynamics of his tenor’s range. It is an album remarkable for both the diversity and the consistency of its material. Anthony personally sifted through more than 40 tracks before settling on the 12 you have in front of you, so you can be assured this is contemporary pop at it’s finest.

Produced and written by the world’s premier pop personnel – whose collective credits include George Michael, Delta Goodrem, Britney Spears, Ronan Keating and the Backstreet Boys, to name but a stellar few – and featuring a track which Anthony wrote while working with producer Ashley Cadell all those years back back (“I Want You”), ANTHONY CALLEA seamlessly melds all the diverse facets of Anthony’s musical taste: there’s the operatic (“The Prayer”, naturally); the symphonic (“Per Sempre [For Always]); polished pop-rock (“Rain”, “Hurt So Bad”, “Take It To The Heart”); carefree summer anthems (“Lost in Summer”); brooding, up-tempo dance (“Into Your Heart”); big, dramatic ballads (“When I Get There”); moody ballads (“I Want You”, “When You Were My Girl”); even timeless classics (Simon & Garfunkel’s “Bridge Over Troubled Water”). It’s an album for all seasons by an artist whose voice is as versatile as it is convincing.

Anthony is immensely proud of his debut long player, and rightly so. It is a record with enormous appeal. But naturally – and especially given that he’s already reached such heady heights so early into his career – Anthony is still a little nervous about how the album will be received.

“It’s weird”, he says. “It’s like a part of me that I’m putting out there and I’m just hoping people will like it. I’m extremely happy with it, and I’ve been overwhelmed by all the support I’ve received from the public, so I hope they like it as well. But at the end of the day I gave it all I’ve got, and if it doesn’t work out, at least I can say that I gave it no less than one hundred per cent”.
