John Francis Bregar, born on March 1, 1985, in North York, Ontario, Canada, is a Canadian actor best known for portraying gay teen Dylan Michalchuk on “Degrassi: The Next Generation”.

Young, versatile, athletic and eager, Bregar is a hard-working Toronto actor with a promising career in television, film and photography.

Bregar began his acting career at the age of 11, in his elementary school production of “Joseph and the Technicolor Dreamcoat.” His professional acting debut was starring in the music video “Father” by Knights of the Realm. He played hockey tough guy Bobby Clarke in the dramatic TV miniseries “CanadaRussia ’72”.

Jensen Ackles is a young actor on the rise. Ackles will next be seen this fall as Jason Teague, love interest to Lana Lang (Kristin Kreuk) in The WB’s “Smallville.” Ackles will make his big screen debut later this year in Sony Pictures’ “Devour,” opposite Dominique Swain and Shannon Sossymon. Whether or not his face is familiar and well known to countless “General Hospital” fans, Jacob Young’s music will come as a welcome surprise. Rakishly rockin’ yet instantly infectious, the sort of tunes that get you fired up for top-down free-wheeling, Jacob’s self-titled CD heralds the arrival of a spirited singer bound to turn the music scene on its ear. And if you don’t think a 21-year-old TV heartthrob, belongs in CD collections all across America, you’d better think again.

He nabbed a Daytime Emmy nomination for his work on CBS’s “The Bold and the Beautiful,” yet music was actually Jacob’s first love. “When I was a kid, being in choirs and musicals were a way of life for me,” says Jacob, who grew up in the small town of Roy, Washington. Entering his teens during the Pacific Northwest’s sonic explosion of the 1990s was pivotal to Jacob’s musical development. “Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Nirvana,” he recounts somewhat reverently. “I remember first hearing ‘Smells Like Teen Spirit’ in 8th grade.”

Jacob’s own music draws from the fount of rock ‘n’ roll but bursts with contemporary pop style that’s John Mellencamp meets Sublime. First single “Life Is Good,” inspired by the life and death of James Dean, rocks out with an unexpected Tex-Mex touch. “Let’s Get Lost” has all the excitement and energy of a drag race to blissful oblivion, while “Rock Me Steadily” one of Jacob’s personal favorites, is a breakneck speedy tale of perilous infatuation. Tempering Jacob’s rebel side are strong, un-sappy ballads like “8 Hour Love Story,” with its twinkly keyboards and wistful words, and “You Don’t Have to Be Alone,” with its’ graceful guitar and subtle strings. And whether rocking out or reaching out, Jacob’s sexy, slightly rough-around-the-edges voice delivers the goods.

“‘Rock Me Steadily’ is a song I wrote about girls/women for they’re very important in my life and I think it’s very flavorful. ‘Sleep Tonight’ is about having your 15 minutes of fame,” Jacob says. As to the album as a whole, he adds: “It’s all about the way of life.”

After his step-mother passed away when Jacob was 16, he briefly moved into a foster home, then headed for San Diego where his birth mother lived and put himself through private school by working at a local Denny’s. “I really had to become a man and take care of myself, but if it wasn’t for those life lessons, I wouldn’t be where I am today,” Jacob says philosophically of those challenging times. “You can’t let outside influences affect you; you have to stay on the path that you choose. All I cared about was making sure that I’d do it one day at a time.”

Did he ever! After only three months of auditioning, Jacob landed a role on the daytime drama “The Bold and the Beautiful” at age 17. Despite long hours on the set, he kept working on music, writing songs on guitar and making demos. He made up his mind and asked his manager to get him a record contract. After exploring major label options, Jacob’s manager felt strongly about going with a respected music industry maverick and began negotiations with Artemis Records Chairman and CEO Danny Goldberg. He inked his deal with Artemis right around the time he started General Hospital. ” I knew it would be very demanding, doing the show by day and recording at night, but I enjoyed it,” he says. “If you really love what you’re doing, it’s got to be fun.”

Jacob Young’s forthcoming CD is a combination of his originals and collaborations with such established songwriters as Eric Lowen (Lowen & Navarro), Billy Steinberg (“Like a Virgin”) and Mark Hudson (Aerosmith). Produced by Steve Lironi (Baha Men, Black Grape, Hanson) with executive producer Steve Greenberg (Baha Men, Hanson), Jacob also worked with a host of cutting-edge and classic musicians to give the album its distinctive sound. “DJ Swamp put a lot of interesting samples on it, and Guy Pratt, he worked with Pink Floyd and some other bands back in the day, played some awesome guitar,” he says. “Sugar Merchant is a rapper who does a little flow on ‘Rock Me Steadily.’ It’s an honest this-guy’s-life kind of album that deals with temptations and tribulations, chasing after dreams and just kicking back, falling in love one minute and breaking free the next.” These are all things Jacob Young is dealing with himself right now, so it’s only natural that his CD sounds as fresh and real as it does. Yet with a twin-engine career going full throttle, a budding film career and certain Hollywood man-about-town status, it’s safe to agree with his debut single and say that for Jacob Young, life is good. Very good indeed.

With a talent and instinct beyond his years, Jake Gyllenhaal (pronounced Jill-en-hall) is on the fast track toward stardom. Last summer, Gyllenhaal established himself as a member of Hollywood’s new generation of action stars. In Fox’s THE DAY AFTER TOMORROW, Gyllenhaal starred opposite Dennis Quaid in the futuristic film which depicted the devastating effects of global warming on Earth. This Christmas, he can be seen in the screen adaptation of the Pulitzer Prize-winning play PROOF for director John Madden. The Miramax film also stars Gwyneth Paltrow and Anthony Hopkins.

Gyllenhaal recently landed the coveted role of “Jack” in Focus Features’ adaptation of BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN. The film, which chronicles an intense relationship between two Wyoming stockmen, will be directed by Ang Lee and costars Heath Ledger. The high-profile project will go into production this summer.

Gyllenhaal was nominated for an Independent Spirit Award for best actor in the critically acclaimed DONNIE DARKO. A favorite at the Sundance Film Festival, the New Market release combines elements of mystical fantasy and science fiction with teenage romance. The film, directed by first-time director Richard Kelly, co-stars Drew Barrymore, Jena Malone and Noah Wyle.

Gyllenhaal starred in another Sundance favorite in 2002, THE GOOD GIRL. In the dark comedy, he portrays a young man who falls in love and has a torid affair with a married woman (played by Jennifer Aniston.) The film is directed by Miguel Arteta, and also stars John C. Reilly, Zooey Deschanel, and Catherine O’ Hara. The film was distributed by Fox Searchlight.

Gyllenhaal also starred in the Touchstone film, MOONLIGHT MILE, written and directed by Brad Silberling. Set in New England in the early 70s, the unlikely love story revolved around a young man who finds himself lingering in the family home of his fiancee, after her untimely death. While grieving along with her parents, played by Dustin Hoffman and Susan Sarandon, he gets drawn into legal issues presented by a district attorney (Holly Hunter) seeking justice for the family, and finds himself falling in love with another woman against his own best intentions.

Marking his theater debut, Gyllenhaal appeared on the London stage with a starring role in Kenneth Lonergan’s revival of This Is Our Youth. The play, which was a critical sensation on Broadway, ran for eight weeks in London’s West End. Gyllenhaal portrayed a rich kid who spends a decadent weekend stealing, dealing, and consuming drugs along side Hayden Christensen and Anna Paquin. For the role, Gyllenhaal received an Evening Standard Theater Award in the category of “Outstanding Newcomer.”

Gyllenhaal’s other projects include Lions Gate Fims’ LOVELY AND AMAZING, a comedy starring Catherine Keener and Brenda Blethyn. The film was screened at the 2001 Toronto Film Festival and was released last summer. He was also seen in “Highway,” a story of self-discovery in which he stars opposite Jared Leto and Selma Blair as a pair of best friends who travel to Seattle after Kurt Cobain’s death to escape their dreary lives in Las Vegas.

Gyllenhaal also starred in the Walt Disney romantic comedy, BUBBLE BOY. The film is the story of his adventure outside the confines of his bubble as he goes after the woman he loves before she marries the wrong man. BUBBLE BOY also starred Swoosie Kurtz and Marley Shelton and was directed by Blair Hayes.

Gyllenhaal was first given notice for his heartwarming performance in the Universal film, OCTOBER SKY , directed by Joe Johnston. A model and actor, Jason Momoa was born in Honolulu but soon moved to Norwalk, Iowa where his mother raised him. Like his character in Baywatch, Jason longed to learn about his Hawaiian roots and returned to the islands to attend college. It wasn’t long before international designer Takeo discovered the 6’4,” green-eyed actor and launched his modeling career.

SWIMS WITH FISHES Jason always knew he would spend his days by the ocean, but he thought he would be studying it, not frolicking in it (the surfer dude planned on being a marine biologist). So, just how did this Hawaiian hottie end up in front of the camera? “I went to Hawaii to hang out with my father and uncle (famed surfer Brian Keaulana) on the set of the film “In God’s Hands” when I met my managers.” The managers sent him off to do runway modeling for Louis Vuitton, but had him back in Hawaii when Baywatch came to town. “I kept trying out for a month and then got the job the day I was supposed to leave.”

PARADISE FOUND After spending a year in the Hollywood limelight, introspective Jason needed a break from his newfound fame. “In my off-season, my managers took me to Tibet.” The trip was quite meaningful for the actor, who happens to be studying Buddhism, a philosophy for which he has the utmost respect. “Tibet is serene, amazing, the people are so beautiful. They have nothing (materially) and they’re so happy– it kinda puts everything in check. It was a great experience, probably my best life experience.” Next on his travel calendar is a trip to the Swiss Alps and then he’s off to France for what he refers to as “the Mecca of climbing,” followed by time spending some time with Mom in Paris (how sweet!)
SHE’S ALL THAT Although he’s taken at the moment, Jason does have opinions about what makes a girl shine. What qualities does he find irresistible? “Honesty, humor and spontaneity.” An ideal date for Mr. Washboard Abs is “to go out to a nice dinner, have good conversation and maybe go to a movie.”

EXTREME JASON In addition to surfing, kayaking, snowboarding and camping, Jason’s obsessed with a dangerous sport. “I went to Canada to do some mountaineering & discovered ice climbing.” Always up for a challenge, he’s quite confident about his new passion saying that he likes the fact that it’s a “real mental game.”

Born John Christopher Depp in Owensboro, Kentucky, on June 9, 1963. Raised in Florida, he dropped out of school at age 15 in the hopes of becoming a rock musician.

Depp fronted a series of garage bands including The Kids, which once opened for Iggy Pop. Depp got into acting after a visit to Los Angeles, California, with his former wife, Lori Anne Allison, who introduced him to actor Nicolas Cage. He made his film debut in A Nightmare On Elm Street (1984). In 1987, he shot to stardom when he replaced Jeff Yagher in the role of undercover cop Tommy Hanson in the popular TV series “21 Jump Street” (1987).
