American tennis player – James Blake

James Riley Blake, born December 28, 1979 in Yonkers, New York, is an American tennis player.

Blake was born in Yonkers, New York, United States to African-American father Thomas Sr. and White British mother Betty. He has a brother, Thomas Jr., who is also a professional tennis player, and three older half-brothers, Jason, Christopher and Howard, and a half-sister, Michelle.

Blake started playing tennis at age 5 alongside his brother Thomas. When 13, he was diagnosed with severe scoliosis and for five years as a teenager, he had to wear a full-length back brace for 18 hours a day, though not while playing tennis. Blake attended Fairfield Warde High School, in Fairfield, Connecticut.

Blake was inspired to pursue tennis after hearing his role model, Arthur Ashe, speak to the Harlem Junior Tennis Program. Brian Barker was his first (and current) coach. He dropped out of Harvard University after his sophomore (second) year to pursue a career in tennis.

James Blake was named Rookie of the Year for the 2000 World Team Tennis season. At age 21, Blake saw his first Davis Cup action in 2001 against India and became the third man with African-American heritage to play the Davis Cup for the United States. Blake won the 2002 USTA Waikola Challenger in Hawaii. He has also twice won the Hopman Cup (with Serena Williams & Lindsay Davenport).

2007 prepared a great start for Blake, who collected his first title of the year at the Sydney International for second consecutive time, beating Carlos Moya 6-3 7-5 6-1. Blake is hopeful to enter the United States team for the 2008 Summer Olympics that will be held in Beijing, China.

Away from tennis, Blake also enjoys golf, basketball, playing the guitar and baseball. He is a big fan of the New York Mets. He has also appeared in People magazine’s Sexiest Man Alive issue.

Discovered by a modeling agency’s booker while attending a course at an Engineering college, six-foot tall Casarin is one of the much sought-after male models from the prestigious stables of Ford Model Brasil.

Along with making clothes look good down rampways and sizzling between pages of fashion magazines, Casarin can also be seen on Brazilian television, starring in the country’s popular soap opera, Días de mucho, vísperas de nada (2005) .

Francis Gonzalez, born 1983, in San Juan, is a Puerto Rican model. His career began when he won the Mr. Puerto Rico Model 2005 title.

Gonzalez rapidly became a standard of beauty in Puerto Rico, also recognized for his charisma, intelligence and great personality.

As Mr. Puerto Rico Model, Gonzalez uses his image for different charitable causes like promoting the conservation of our environment to Puerto Rico’s youth. He’s a student of Microbiology in the University of Puerto Rico and a licensed tour guide in the Natural Reserve of Las Cabezas de San Juan in the bioluminescent bay known as Laguna Grande.

In October 2005, Gonzalez represented Puerto Rico in the White City of Arequipa, Peru in which he became the first Puerto Rican to obtain the international title of Mister Mundial 2005. This open many opportunities in the field of modeling in many countries of South America.

Jonathan Peter “Jonny” Wilkinson, born May 25, 1979 in Frimley, Surrey, is an English rugby union player and member of the England rugby union team.

Wilkinson plays his club rugby in the Guinness Premiership for Newcastle Falcons. He has a reputation for an obsessive approach to training; in particular spending hours a day on goal-kicking practice even while at school. This has paid dividends; in 2003 he kicked the winning drop goal in the last minute of extra time of the final of the Rugby World Cup against Australia.

Wilkinson was educated at Pierrepont in Frensham and Lord Wandsworth College, playing rugby as a junior, he was talent-scouted by his school rugby coach. He left school in 1997 and deferred his studies at Durham University for a year to try full-time rugby union. He started his career at inside centre for the Newcastle Falcons.

By 1998, he had already been included in the full time England national team, making his debut from the bench against Ireland at Twickenham on April 4 of that year aged 18.

Wilkinson had established himself as a regular England rugby player, and subsequently made his World Cup debut at the 1999 World Cup. In 2001 Wilkinson helped the Falcons to the 2001 Tetley’s Bitter Cup at Twickenham. His elevation to worldwide acclaim was at the 2003 Rugby World Cup in Australia, where Wilkinson kicked the winning drop goal in extra time at Telstra Stadium to give England its first ever World Cup, breaking the southern hemisphere’s dominance in the process.

In their opening game of the 2007 Six Nations Championship against Scotland on February 3, 2007, Wilkinson scored 27 points in the game (a record in the Calcutta Cup) and was awarded Man of the Match. One week later, against Italy at Twickenham, he became the highest point-scorer in the history of the Five/Six Nations Championship.

Johan Wissman, born November 2, 1982 in Helsingborg, Sweden, is a Swedish track and field athlete specializing in the 200 and 400 metres. He is the current national record holder in both of these events.

Wissman achieved his first medal in 2004 when he finished second in 200m at the World Indoor Athletics Championships.

Wissman also won the silver medal in the 200m at the 2006 European Athletics Championships and came in seventh place in 400 metres in the 2007 World Athletics Championships in Osaka, Japan.

His personal bests include the 100m with a time of 10.44s in 2002; 200m in 20.30s and 400m in 44.56s in 2007 where he set a national record for Sweden.

American gymnast – Justin Spring

Justin Spring, born March 11, 1984, in Houston, Texas, is an American gymnast. He is a member of the bronze medal winning U.S. team at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing.

Spring grew up in Burke, Virginia. He graduated from Lake Braddock Secondary School in Burke, VA in 2002.

As a senior, Spring won the Nissen-Emery Award and was named the Big 10 Gymnast of the Year. He says his teammates had the most influence on his athletic career because they always kept him motivated.

During his gymnastic career, Spring garnered three Big Ten Championships with titles on parallel bars and all-around in 2006 and on the floor exercise in 2004 and most notably, won bronze medal with the U.S. team at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing.

Spring is an assistant coach at the University of Illinois and after the 2008 Olympic Games, he plans on taking graduate courses at Illinois while continuing to train and coach.

In his free time, Spring likes to ride his motorcycle and enjoys hosting cookouts for his friends.

Francesco Mino, born in Switzerland, is a model, dancer and actor of Sicilian descent.

Before starting his acting career two years ago, Mino was a model which brought him to New York City in 2003. He grew up in Switzerland where he developed a passion for dance, theater and television. Moving to Zurich after high school, he turned that passion into a career and began working as model and dancer. A year later, he found himself cast in the musicals “Fame” and “Hair.”

The acting bug bit and he was off to New York. Working as a model allowed him time to audition and continue training. His career blossomed in NYC with small parts on TV shows such as CSI: New York, Sex in the City, Death in Love, as well as on soap operas As the World Turns and All My Children.

After four years in New York City, Mino recently relocated to Los Angeles to continue his acting career.

Francis Cadieux, born in Trois-Rivieres, Quebec, is a French Canadian model.

Cadieux attended professional courses on police and emergency situations in Trois-Rivieres, originally wishing to be a police officer. But, in the middle term, he suddenly change his career path to modeling when he was scouted by EMA MODELS.

Quickly thereafter, Cadieux packed his bags and travel to work in Montreal and Toronto. After a very successful first year in modeling, his agency arranged him to travel to Europe: Milan, Paris, Hamburg and London.

Cadieux has earned lots of credits under his name, including big campaigns for Bauhaus jeans, Hugo Boss, Puma, Kenneth Cole, Mey bodywear, Due Jewels, and Browns Shoes, just to name a few. In addition, he has graced the pages of several editorial magazines including Elle Homme and Cosmopolitan.

The most important thing in his life are his friends and family. He loves all kind of sports and he also loves food very much which he says can be a problem sometimes.

When asked what are his other interests beside modeling, he said, “I really like acting. I will probably try it one day. I just need to work on my English a bit before I take my chance!”
