American Movie and Television  Actor – Nicholas Gonzalez

In countries all over the world, movie and television viewers are beginning to discover Latino actor Nicholas Gonzalez. From his starring role as medical student / boxer Alex Santiago on Showtime’s original series “Resurrection Blvd” to his romantic lead as Sol Torres in the film

“The Princess and the Barrio Boy”, Nicholas Gonzalez has emerged as a talented, handsome, and inspirational Latino role model.

Born January 3, 1976 in San Antonio, Texas, the good-looking 28-year-old is not only a gifted performer, but he’s smart and athletic, as well.

As a student at San Antonio’s Central Catholic High School, he became an accomplished cross-country and track runner, winning the Texas State Championship in the mile and two mile. After graduating in 1994 and turning down a presidential appointment to West Point, Nicholas pursued an English degree at Stanford University in California.

His interest and love of literature, history, and poetry led him to two terms at England’s prestigious Oxford University. The following summer, he returned to Europe on a research grant where he studied with scholars at Oxford and Trinity College-Dublin to complete his thesis on James Joyce’s “Ulysses”.

While finishing his Bachelor of Arts in English in 1998, Nicholas was approached to do a one-man theatre piece called “Gas” by Marie Irene Fornes.

Alma Martinez, an actress and Stanford professor, encouraged him to become a professional actor. With her help, he connected with the theatrical movement in San Francisco. He polished his skills by performing in classic and contemporary theatre. “I’m happy when I’m on stage,” he declares.

In 1998, Nicholas moved to Los Angeles, where he quickly landed small parts in established television series such as ABC’s “Dharma and Greg” and NBC’s “One World”.

Nicholas then appeared as Fidel Castro’s son in the Lifetime Original Movie, “My Little Assassin”, starring Joe Mantegna and Gabrielle Anwar. But it was his role as Andy, the gay yuppie on MTV’s “Undressed” that really got people’s attention. For six nights he wowed viewers, and those episodes became the most requested in the series’ history.

Determined to continue working in film, Nicholas wrapped production of two films in 2000. The first, “Scenes of the Crime”, was shown at the 2001 Cannes Film Festival. It stars Jeff Bridges, Jon Abrahams, and Noah Wyle. It was directed by Dominique Forma. Look for Nicholas in the role of Marty. The second film was an independent project titled “Spun”, starring Mena Suvari, Mickey Rourke, Brittany Murphy, and John Leguizamo. It played at the 2003 Sundance Film Festival. Look for Nicholas in the role of Angel.

Nicholas’s most well-known role also came his way in 2000. Beating out 400 other actors, he landed the coveted lead in Showtime’s original movie, “Resurrection Blvd”, which premiered June 26, 2000. Working alongside veteran Latino actors Elizabeth Pena, Esai Morales, Michael DeLorenzo, Rita Moreno, and Tony Plana, Nicholas took center-stage as Alex Santiago, the handsome pre-med student who drops out of school in order to become a professional boxer. The movie was successful and immediately expanded to become a regular weekly series.

While continuing his work on “Resurrection Blvd”, Nicholas appeared in episodes of “Walker, Texas Ranger” and “That 70’s Show”. He even found time for a family film with his RB co-star, Marisol Nichols. “The Princess and the Barrio Boy” (released as “She’s in Love” in Europe) proved to be Nicholas’s most popular role to date. In it, Nicholas plays a swimmer, a poor teen on an athletic scholarship, who attracts the interest of a rich but rebellious teenaged girl. The girl, a champion swimmer, tries to get back at her family by dating a boy from a working-class background. Edward James Olmos and Maria Conchita Alonso starred as the girl’s parents. In his turn as a romantic lead, Nicholas melted hearts on both sides of the Atlantic. The film is currently available on DVD and VHS.

Nicholas continued his career in films with two titles due in 2004. The first, “Sea of Dreams”, was filmed in Veracruz, Mexico, in May, 2003. Nick then headed off to Fiji for the summer, where he completed production of “Anacondas”, which opened in theaters August 27th.

When he’s not acting, Nicholas, who is Ssingle, enjoys playing golf, video games, and working out. He is an avid reader, consuming as many as two books a week. Despite his busy schedule, he also finds time for charity work and his growing number of fans. He takes his responsibility as a Latino role model very seriously, volunteering his time to organizations such as the National Hispanic Institute and The Friends of El Faro.

The heavy Boracay rain spoiled the fun when Mossimo Bikini Open finals has to be postponed and was later moved to May 23, 2009 playdate to a still undisclosed location. And still another bad news came when two male candidates had to beg off and then throw in the towels when they finally cancelled their participation in the said contest. Edouard George has to leave because of his TV show Hole In The Wall has conflict with his practice schedules. Kenji Lopez Zabala has to leave for reasons he alone knows.

Still the heat is on … as our ten hunks strut their wares in the rocks of Boracay and for sure they will rock our night away too on May 23, 2009. And as for the venue we will try to update you guys when everything is ironed out.

Nick Zano is seen every week on The WB’s What I Like About You, playing the role of Vince, the on-again/off-again love interest to Holly (Amanda Bynes).

Born in Nutley, New Jersey, and raised by his great grandmother, grandmother, mother and two aunts, Zano’s childhood dream of becoming a Navy Seal changed one afternoon when he saw the film Goodfellas and decided to pursue a career in show business.

During high school in West Palm Beach, Florida, Zano was active in the drama and television departments. Throughout his junior and senior years, Zano and fellow classmates produced a weekly off-beat skit comedy show that aired on the school’s television station. While working on the show, Zano also wrote, starred in and directed student films that made their way to the JVC Universal Film Competition, a festival in which over 800 local high schools participate.

Shortly after school, Zano moved to Los Angeles and landed a job developing films and television projects for a small production company. During that time, he also was the associate producer for Living Position, a World AIDS Day television special hosted by Lou Diamond Phillips. It was while he was selling shoes in a trendy Los Angeles boutique that a customer, unbeknownst to Zano, went back to her office and told her supervisors she’d just met a man who would be a wonderful on-air personality. The mystery woman was an employee at MTV. This meeting lead to Zano landing the hosting job of MTV’s MOVIE HOUSE.
Zano recently completed production on two films: the independent feature Love Surreal and Fat Albert, based on the successful cartoon series.

Zano has recently taken up painting and is a big football fan. He now makes his home in Los Angeles, but has stayed close with many of his childhood friends, including his best friend, who was drafted by the Kansas City Chiefs the day before Zano landed his MTV job.

Misters of Puerto Rico usually is giving out 4 awards after its pageant night namely Mr. PR Model, Mr. PR Teenager, Mr. Latin Model PR, and Mr. Teen Model PR. It is only in this year where they have to give out their fifth title … Mr. PR International wherein the winner will go and compete in the annual Mr. International contest. Take note that the original two winners were not able to finish their term, and just like other pageants … whoever is the next in line will take over and continue his functions. It was a messy musical chair for the winners and their runner-ups, but all is well … that ends well. Here are the list of this years winners.
-Mr. Puerto Rico Model 2010-Alexis Martinez- he already won two titles for himself: Mr. America Intercontinental 2010 and Mr. Hot Body International 2010.
-Mr. Puerto Rico Teenager 2010- Jean Carlos Ruiz. Unfortunately he was not able to continue his reign for personal reasons and was replaced by Juan Alejandro Serrano.
-Mr. Puerto Rico Teenager 2010- Juan Alejandro Serrano. He already won for himself one title: Mr. Carribean Intercontinental 2010
-Mr. Latin Model Puerto Rico 2010- Pedro Marquez. Again he was not able to finish his reign and was replaced by Jesus Oyola.
-Mr. International Puerto Rico- David Ortiz. He will be going to Taiwan to compete next month.

Max Riemelt, born January 7, 1984, in Berlin, is a German

actor best known for his role as Friedrich Weimer in the award-winning war drama, “Napola.”

Riemelt discovered his love for acting while at school. After making his debut in Matthias Steurer’s TV mini-series Zwei allein in 1988, he followed this a year later with the TV movie “Ein Weihnachtsmaerchen” and Dana Vavrova’s children’s adventure film “Der Baer ist los.”

Since then, Riemelt has worked regularly for film and television, such as teenage comedy “Girls on Top” (Maedchen Maedchen), Friedemann Fromm’s TV movie “Brennendes Schweigen,” Christian von Castelberg’s “Mein Vater und andere Betrueger”, Dirk Regel’s “Lottoschein ins Glueck” and Susanne Irina Zacharias’ “Hallesche Kometen” as well as episodes of “Alarm fuer Cobra 11”, among others.

Finally in 2004, Riemelt landed his breakthrough role as Friedrich Weimer in “Napola”, in which he was awarded the prize for Best Actor at the Karlovy Vary Film Festival for his performance. Napola subsequently won the festival’s Audience Award.

Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, born July 27, 1970, in Denmark, is a Danish actor.

Coster-Waldau received his education at Statens Teaterskole in Copenhagen in 1993. After graduating, he landed his breakthrough role in the 1994 hit Danish horror thriller film “Nattevagten” (Nightwatch). Soon after, he bagged more than a dozen roles in Danish films including “Antenneforeningen (1999),” “Manden bag døren (2003),” and “Rembrandt (2003),” among others.

Matt Cedeno’s unfailing down to earth inner qualities has always brought an additional shine to his disarmingly stunning looks. Three years in a row, he was nominated for an ALMA award as Outstanding Actor in a Daytime Drama for his work as Brandon Walker on NBC’s “Days of Our Lives.” He was the only actor from NBC Daytime to be nominated each year.

Cedeno successfully played a young boxer in the feature film “Price of Glory” (Jimmy Smitts plays the same character years later) and he appeared in the highly successful, “The Suburbans” with Jennifer Love Hewitt and Ben Stiller. The pageant is the only national pageant exclusively for college women of Hispanic/Latin decent between the ages of 18-26. Cedeno hosted this show in Spanish and English. Cedeno taught himself Spanish and his command of the language opens him up to more of the Latino media markets. CNN Espanol completed an entire interview with Cedeno in Spanish as did People En Espanol Magazine.

 

Cedeno is very involved with helping Padres Contra El Cancer which is an organization devoted to helping economically disadvantaged Latino families in Los Angeles County whose children have been diagnosed cancer, most of whom are terminal.

Born in Moses Lake,Washington, Cedeno, of Cuban, Irish/English descent, has always been active in sports and had an aspiring career towards pro football when a debilitating knee injury abruptly put an end to that particular career direction. Renewed inspiration came when Cedeno was approached on his college campus by an acting and modeling manager. Before the school semester ended, he was off to Italy on a modeling assignment for Versace. Cedeno continued to juggle academics and a modeling career in Milan, Spain, New York and Los Angeles. One year after moving to Los Angeles, Cedeno landed a strong theatrical agent and studied with some of the industry’s most respected acting coaches. He continues to study his acting techniques while working and he remains physically active, enjoying sports such as boxing, soccer, baseball, skiing.
