Australian rules footballer – Shaun Hampson

Shaun Hampson, born March 21, 1988, in Melbourne, Australia, is an Australian rules footballer who plays for the “Carlton Football Club” in the Australian Football League.

s4

Hampson did not begin playing Australian football until 16, but was the #1 ruckman for Queensland’s “Mt Gravatt Football Club” by 2006. Considered the best young ruckmen in the 2006 AFL National Draft, Hampson was a promising junior soccer player and had only been playing AFL football for two years before Carlton selected him with their second pick (17th overall).

Hampson made his debut in Round 21 of that year against the “Kangaroos,” and scored his first goal the following week against Melbourne with a strong kick from a set shot.

ss4

In addition to his towering height of 6’6″, Hampson has a high vertical leap, physically equipping him to be a quality ruckman. His lack of experience at the game is seen as the main barrier, but with his determination and hard work, Hampson continues to prove that he could become one of the top ruckmen in the Australia Football League in the future.

Male, Los Angeles, California

I was born to be sensitive to colors and lighting. At age of 5, I started my fine arts journey by learning sketch, water color and oil painting. The journey continues after I had my master’s degree from UCLA, School of Arts and Architecture. I felt the chemistry when I employed my sense of art into photography. The images represent my visions of human subjects, lighting, colors, and the collaboration between models and the photographer.

Hello, my name is Gary Xu. I’m an artist and a photographer in Los Angeles. I am passionate in art photography of portraits and figures. My creativities and inspirations are from a variety of models, the beauty of nature, the sunshine, and the colors. I like to work with talented models and make-up artist to create striking, high-impact artistic photography. Thanks for visiting and feel free to contact me with any creative ideas.

While I am happy to make and accept new freind’s requests, it would be very much appreciated that a tag or comments come along with the freind request.

Nissan GTR

The Nissan GTR has set a new standard for sportscar production, not just because it is phenomenally fast, capable and approachable, but also because it’s not actually that expensive. Porsche, Ferrari, Aston? There’s no longer any need.

Comfort
Despite immense power and an out-and-out performance bent, the GTR is superbly comfortable and refined. It rides firmly though, and when we get to drive one in the UK we’ll know if that’s going to be a problem.

Performance
There’s 470bhp being sent to all four wheels via a semi-automatic dual clutch gearbox. This means 0-60mph in around 3.5 seconds and a top speed not far shy of 200mph. But it’s what you can do in between that sets the GTR apart.

Cool
When the first GTRs start appearing in the UK they will be rarer than gold dust and more popular than Kate Moss at a swingers’ party. Suddenly a 911 is going to be tomorrow’s chip paper, and everyone is going to be fighting over a Nissan.

Quality
The GTR is beautifully constructed, with superb detailing and fantastically solid, contemporary materials. No problems reported yet either, and none likely.

Handling
Taking Porsche’s current generation 911 Turbo as a benchmark, the GTR handles like few other cars on the planet. Four-wheel drive provides bags of traction, while steering feels steady and pin-sharp.

Practicality
There is a boot of sorts, so you could just about go away in a GTR, but that’s not the point. This is a car that’s so preposterously good that shortcomings are mere foibles, readily dismissed with a quick squeeze of throttle.

Running costs
Expect fuel consumption to bring you out in a cold sweat and insurance premiums to cause a minor coronary. But remember all the while that you could probably sell an early car for a profit.

Tony Jaa, also named as Phanom Yeerum (read: Pha-nom Yee-rum) born on February 5, 1976, better known in the West as Tony Jaa, is a martial arts actor and choreographer who is skilled in Muay Thai, taekwondo, Krabi Krabong, and gymnastics. He was born in the Surin Province of northeastern Thailand.

Jaa initially worked as a stuntman, appearing in the movie Mortal Kombat: Annihilation. His first major movie, in which he played the lead character, was Ong-Bak: Muay Thai Warrior (2003). Jaa did all the stunts in this movie without mechanical assistance or computer-generated effects. He claims to have been inspired by the Chinese action movie stars Bruce Lee, Jet Li, and Jackie Chan, although his fighting style in Ong-Bak remains loyal to his Thai roots. His next movie is Tom-Yum-Goong. This movie enjoyed even greater success in Thailand and Hong Kong than Ong-Bak when released.

Born in Nicaragua, López’s parents moved to New York City in 1972. In his native country, his father, Julio, worked for the government of the then-President Anastasio Somoza, who was overthrown in 1979 after the Sandinista Revolution. His father took odd jobs to support his family but later relocated to Texas.

López first learned the sport of Taekwondo in his garage at the age of five from his father and Jean, his older brother. He is a 1997 graduate of Kempner High School in Sugar Land, Texas where he was voted “most likely to succeed”.

rr4

López made his mark in 2000 when he became the first official Olympic gold medalist at the 2000 Olympic Games. In 2003, he earned the rank of world champion in his weight class.

Both López and siblings, Mark (men’s featherweight) and Diana (women’s featherweight), made sports history in April 2005 when they all claimed a world championship title at the same event (2005 World Taekwondo Championships) with their oldest brother, Jean, participating in the feat as their coach.

In the 2007 Beijing Olympics, Lopez won bronze in the Men’s taekwondo 80kg and gold in Welterweight category at the 2007 World Taekwondo Championships.

Boxing Athlete – Robin Reid

EVER since he was an eight-year-old lad sparring at Runcorn Boys Boxing Club, Robin Reid dreamt of winning a world title. At the age of 21, the Sutton Park youngster could have been forgiven for thinking that in slogging his way to a bronze medal at the Barcelona Olympics, he had reached the highpoint of his pugilistic career.

q4

But not once did the former Gorsewood Junior School and Brookvale Comprehensive pupil lose sight of his ultimate goal, and in September 1996 he realised his dream by beating Italian Vincenzo Nardiello for the WBC Super-middleweight championship of the world.

A searing left hook to the ribs in the seventh round left Nardiello reeling in a bout that no-one thought Reid could win. Nardiello had won the WBC crown by beating Sugar Boy Malinga six months earlier and had been a hot favourite to beat the under-rated and little-known Reid.

Robin defended his WBC crown three times. He floored South African Giovanni Pretorious in the seventh with a fierce right hook at the London Arena, in February, 1997, and won a 12 round points decision over Britain’s highly rated and hard-hitting Henry Wharton at the Nynex Arena in Manchester three months later.

The Wharton fight was a gruelling and brutal encounter and is still considered to be one of the best British fights in recent memory. It put pay to the rumours that Reid was just a pretty face and earned him respect from boxing pundits.

A third defence against Hassine Cherifi took place at the Kingsway Leisure Centre in Widnes in September, 1997, and once again Reid showed he could go the distance by scoring another 12 round points victory.
It seemed that Reid had the world at his feet and he was voted British Boxer of the Year in 1997, but just months after receiving the accolade it all went horribly wrong.

qq4

What should have been a quick defence against Thulane Sugar Boy Malinga in December of 1997 ended in disaster as Reid put in a lack-lustre performance and lost his title to the South African journeyman on points.

IT was time for Reid to reflect on what went wrong and to prepare his comeback. A sixth round win over Graham Townsend in April 1998 paved the way for a shot at the WBO version of the Super-middleweight title, which was now held by Joe Calzaghe.

The Welsh champion, who had an impressive record with a high knock-out percentage, was confident in the lead up to the fight and convinced that he would blast Reid out of the ring, but the reality was very different on a cold February night in Newcastle, in 1999.

Calzaghe enjoyed the better of the opening exchanges, but Reid turned the tide and put in what is probably still the best performance of his career, taking the cocky champion through a gruelling 12 rounds and finishing the stronger.

Reid was convinced that he won the fight, and so too did one of the judges, as Calzaghe was awarded a split decision.

Despite losing the encounter, Reid had furthered his reputation as one of Britain’s finest and when he was refused a rematch with the Welshman, he chose instead to go after the WBU version of the title.

A terrible display against Silvio Branco at Hampden Park, in June, 2000, saw the Reaperman beaten on points and at the age of 29, it looked like the final chapter in Reid’s rags to riches story.

qqq2

AFTER spending six months out of the ring, a revitalised Reid returned to fight for the vacant WBF Super-middleweight title at Crystal Palace. A first round knock-out of Mike Gormley saw the Reaperman regain his world champion status.

Reid has defended his new belt three times against Russian Roman Babaev (round 3 TKO), South African Soon Botes (round 4 TKO) and Argentinean Jorge Sclarandi round 3 TKO), and at the age of 30, is looking sharper than ever.

Still under the wing of veteran trainer Brian Hughes, Reid remains bent on regaining his former and more prestigious WBC title.
