Michael Fred Phelps (born June 30, 1985) is an American swimmer. He has won 14 career Olympic gold medals, the most by Olimpia.

On August 2, 2009, Phelps has been breaking world records in swimming and thirty-seven.

Phelps holds the record for most gold medals won in a single Olympics, eight at the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games over the performance of American swimmer Mark Spitz seven-gold in Munich in 1972.
