The Movie ‘Muli’?
Usually, I have no expectations from our local gay indie movies, so I was pleasantly surprised that Adolfo Alix can actually make a serious movie! Muli is full of good surprises and it is, in my opinion, the best gay movie I have seen this year!
So, I recommend that you go to Robinson’s Galleria now and watch this movie! These are my reasons why I enjoyed the movie –
1. The beautiful production design! It is rare for a Filipino movie to have excellent production design, so when I saw this low budget independent movie have superb production design, I was so proud of it! The movie spans four decades and I was most impressed with the 70s and the 80s part of the movie because the setting was really reminiscent of that decade. It was like I was back in my grandpa’s place in the early 80s when I was vacationing there as a child!
2. The wonderful acting. My favorite actor in the group is the gay housekeeper who was given all the juicy script bits! Watch out for him since he has some of the wittiest sound bytes and the funniest scenes in the movie. Sid Lucero, as usual, is superb, and there are some scenes where he does look like his Dad, when his Dad was still his age! Cogie, on the other hand, is not really much of an actor, but I did not watch this movie to watch him act anyway.
3. Cogie Domingo doing it! What can I say!! Priceless really! Cogie is just so yummy here, we’re just so happy he said yes to this movie!! He is the fantasy mestizo guy gay men so desire – smart, goodlooking, butch and wants it! What else can you ask for?
