Channing Tatum: ‘The Eagle’

Before I watched this movie, I actually thought Channing would just bamboozle through it with his ‘dude’ act.  But he doesn’t!  In fact, he does justice to the role of a brave Roman Empire commander who wants to bring back honor to his disgraced family.  His strong features fit the profile of his character and although he only has one scene where he is shirtless, you could see how he prepared his body for this movie!  In that scene, you could see his finely chiseled body.

Also, I did find some homoerotic elements in the master-slave relationship between him and Jamie Bell (who plays his slave here).  I guess that’s just my very active imagination!  This is after all, a movie set in the decadent Roman empire!

However, the bro-mance here is purely platonic and is just the friendship between two men who cement their relationship by saving each other’s lives when it mattered most.  Still, it’s worthwhile daydreaming about it…..
