‘Never Let Me Go’!!
Fresh from watching the Black Swan and the Oscar telecast last week, I can’t help but compare and wonder – what if Darren Aronofsky directed the screenplay adaptation of ‘Never Let Me Go’! There would’ve been more blood and the movie wouldn’t have plodded on too much. Frankly, I fell asleep throughout much of it which is sad, because I was so into this book when I read it a few years back. It’s just that, it isn’t quite what I pictured it to be! I knew it was supposed to be set in England, with all the rain and its dreariness, but this movie is way too dreary! I love the casting though! Topnotch! Aside from this three – I also saw Sally Hawkins and Charlotte Rampling! Sublime!
Now if only there was a better storyteller because in the movie – everything really has to be visual! The images I created in my mind did not match very much what I saw in the movie. Oh well, at least Hollywood tried.
